UK Domestic Tourism
It might be an underpinned initiative previous to the financial crisis; however, domestic travel in the UK is now growing even more popular. The significant increase in world oil prices has led to higher airfares and transportation services. Hotel and accommodation charges have also increased as the tourism industry adversely reacts to the decline of business travellers and corporate functions.
This phenomenon has positively affected domestic tourism as most of UK citizens now opt for weekend trips rather than long overseas travels. The boost in domestic tourism invites investors for a promising industry that is perceived to grow over the following years. Investors pouring in capitalisation for the development of infrastructures and countryside transportation, modern facilities in rural areas, and renovation of holiday cottages and country accommodation will surely increase economic activity and enhance the quality of life both for local residents and tourists.
